No entertainment is so cheap as reading, nor any pleasure so lasting.
One man in my book club would weight each monthly book in his hand and talk about the entertainment value he had gotten. And I often compare the hours of reading enjoyment with other things like movies. I have to agree with this quote from Lady Mary Wortley Montagu — reading is entertainment that lasts. One of the sentences in an earlier blog I remembered from a book I read in college (and that was many years ago!). What books have lasting power for you?
